Judo was developed in Japan by Dr Jigoro Kano towards the end of the 19th century and has evolved from being a martial art into one of the world's most popular sports. Since its inclusion in the 1964 Olympic Games Judo has progressed rapidly and is without doubt the worlds most popular combat sport. Judo is however much more than a sport, it is also seen to be effective as an educational system in both physical and moral spheres.

Pro Judo is a Judo Scotland affiliated club and was founded in 2000 by Brian Long, in that time it has developed into the largest judo club in Glasgow and the West Coast of Scotland.
It is currently the no 1 provider of Judo for Schools in Glasgow. Through judo Pro Judo aims to offer an opportunity regardless of ability or disability for everyone to benefit from a fun social environment, a chance to improve fitness levels, deal with frustation and anger and to help teach self control.
