I would build just about anything for myself and friends, or friends of friends who would ask me, "can you build me this?", or "can you build me that?" Needless to say, after a time it became a full time hobby!

I live in the heart of the Yare Valley in Norfolk, hence the name Yare Valley Dovecotes. I have been building beautiful garden structures for many years including dovecotes, bird tables, and owl boxes, for people involved in the preservation of wildlife.

So why do I build dovecotes? Well. Partly because I have perfected the process but primarily because I just really enjoy building them as every single part has to be handmade. Although each one looks similar when finished, they are all slightly different having been hand crafted and born out of a selection of raw materials. That's what I love, the creation and knowing the work I do has an impact on the conservation of wildlife.
