Ghene was then given her first film camera after her primary school graduation which she used with much humour and mischief. Her many experiences gave her useful insight about people from different walks of life - from those who just manage to have a roof over their heads to those who lived in palaces. Although it may not seem obvious at first, this varied experience was the launching point for her career as a professional portrait and wedding photographer.

Although it may not seem obvious at first, this varied experience was the launching point for her career as a professional portrait and wedding photographer. While working in real estate, frustration with the quality of photographs of properties for sale led Ghene to invest in her own SLR and learn the technical aspects of interior and exterior photography and how to make best advantage of the available light. Her interest in people and experience in the hospitality industry gave her the passion for producing portraits that show character and a dislike for "stuffed shirt" studio photography.
