Kingsmead Day Nursery

At Kingsmead we believe that a child`s happiness is the foundation upon which learning is built. Our highly qualified staff ensure that children are supported and cared for in a loving and trusting environment in which they feel safe. Kingsmead Day Nursery was opened by Mrs Helen Gaskell on 3rd September 1989 with 11 children on the register, in a large Victorian house the other side of the city. Mrs Gaskell is still the owner of the Nursery and re located to its present site in December 2010 and is still very much involved with the day to day running and decision making. She meets regularly with staff and over sees both child and staff development. Over the years the nursery has evolved to accommodate young babies right through to preparing children for school. We have cared for thousands of children over our 27 years and we are now welcoming the children of children who attended the nursery in those early days. Mrs Gaskell`s children were of primary school age when Kingsmead opened and now her grandchildren have attended and are attending the nursery. Mrs Gaskell’s son and daughter are directors of the company and are very much involved with the business side.
