Julian began his career as an upholsterer in 1972 in Birmingham, working for his father's business - an established upholstery firm that valued traditional aesthetics. From a family of upholsterers, seamstresses and frame-makers, his care and attention to detail is evident in all the work he undertakes, from commercial work to private, and from crafting bespoke furniture to pristinely restoring existing pieces.

Julian was recommended to us by a fabric shop in Brigg. The shop owner spoke highly of the way he was able to transform old and battered pieces of upholstered furniture into stylish contemporary pieces. Well,we didn’t have worn out upholstered furniture but what we did have was a very good quality three piece suite, about 20 years old, which needed a modern fabric to bring it up to date. But would it be worth spending money on it? After much deliberation we approached Julian. A few weeks later,on schedule, the new suiteâ€ arrived. We were not disappointed. The attention to detail concerning pattern matching and the overall high level of workmanship was outstanding. The finished article justified our decision to recycle our old suite rather than buy new furniture. We are thrilled with the result. We cannot recommend Julian enough - he is a true professional of his craft.
