My name is Sue Cartwright. I have lived and worked in Birmingham all my life and for many years my job role has been in administration for local Children's Services where I have witnessed families overcome very difficult experiences in their lives. I naturally progressed into counselling, working whilst studying to qualify in 2005.

Through my placement at a local NHS Health Centre I gained considerable experience working with people presenting with a variety of issues such as depression, relationship difficulties, time management, bereavement and alcohol/drug addiction. After I qualified I remained in private practice at the Health Centre until 2007.

I have always been interested in anything 'outside the box' and since obtaining my counselling qualifications, to compliment my services I have undertaken various levels of study and practical application to qualify as an accredited Crystal Therapist, Reiki Practitioner/Master/Teacher and Thermo-Auricular Therapist (Ear Candling).

In addition I have undertaken a further qualification based upon Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Step Approach to expand my counselling provision in supporting individuals in the process of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The approach is also suitable in supporting individuals with other addictions like OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) or food related disorders.

I have been involved with several community projects in a voluntary capacity and I am currently providing therapy support at Freshwinds in Selly Oak who provide a fully integrated model of care and support for individuals with life threatening and life limiting illnesses. I have also completed training through them and in conjunction with the Royal Society of Public Health to become a Community Health Champion providing a variety of health support and signposting provision for individuals looking at changing their lifestyles.
