Clare Whittle, Counsellor

I have been working in the field of mental health and counselling for 30 years. I am a counsellor based in Redhill, which is also in easy reach of Dorking and Reigate. I work with individuals (adults) and couples. I have been a BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist for 22 years and hold Senior Accreditation. I am also a Senior Accredited Supervisor of Individuals and Groups. I have worked in the Public, Private and Voluntary Sectors as an employed counsellor. Who would benefit from counselling? Most people do not seek counselling until they feel quite stressed. There may have been a crisis. Things that don't normally 'get to them' do and this feels uncomfortable - 'not like me.' There are many things that are challenging in life, changes, unexpected illness, bereavements, family problems. When people start talking to me about their problems they often describe themselves as 'weak.' In my opinion the people I see as a counsellor are far from weak.
