In May, the year 12 BTEC Engineering students were given the opportunity to head down the road to look around the Siemens Power Generation Factory. This trip gave the students a rare insight into the massive scale of some of the mechanical engineering works we have on our door step, right here in Walker. It will hopefully inspire them to consider Engineering as an option for further study or a career path. We'd like to thank Siemens for allowing us to visit.

Our recent assemblies on 'Selfie-Safety' included some strong and very worrying messages. Young people interact in an online world where few adults are as competent and proficient as our students. Sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are constantly updating and it can be difficult for teachers and parents to stay on top of the latest recommendations for the safest setting.
