Walcot Upholstery specialises in the reupholstery of period furniture, using traditional methods to ensure the integrity of the original piece. Our business is set in the beautiful city of Bath, in the famous artisan area of Walcot Street. The workshop and showroom occupy separate premises, just a five minute walk away from each other.
Walcot Upholstery was established in 1973 by Tony Hook, who
was joined by his son Gary in 1978. Together they ran a successful business mainly concentrating on the re-upholstery of commissioned pieces.
The original founder Tony, retired in 2000 and in the same year Simon Watson joined as a partner. Gary and Simon decided to develop the business further by offering re-upholstered period pieces for sale, whilst continuing with commissioned work. This
has proven to be extremely popular and as a consequence, in
May 2004, a showroom was opened just a short walk from the
original workshop.
More recently, to meet increased demand, four full-time, experienced upholsters have joined the team, along with office staff to ensure the smooth-running of the business.
