We started VeggiePets.com in 2003, we thought it might be fun! The founders of VeggiePets.com have trading in their blood, one can trace his roots to the costermongers in the markets of London, while the other used to sit in his front garden as a child trying to sell lego models to passers by.
Damian got the ball rolling in 2003, when working as a web designer building online shops. He realised that he would enjoy having a shop more than making them... but what kind of shop?
He looked around wondering what he could do that would be interesting, useful but importantly, fit with his ethical beliefs. When he found some vegetarian dog food one day, he laughed out loud... "What a crazy idea!", he thought. However, the idea started to grow - slowly Damian realised that this could be an interesting project.
Later that year he drove from Portsmouth to Sheffield to get the first stock, about 8 bags of dog food and some biscuits! VeggiePets.com was opened - attracting customers on its first day.
Darrell was still working in the media industry in London, but soon started to help out, driving with Damian on long trips to buy stock and lend a few bob here and there. Eventually, Darrell made the bold move to quit London and work with Damian full time.
