Joe Togher is a fully-licensed acupuncture therapist based in Blackpool, Lancashire. Despite years of treatments and tests at different hospitals, I was no closer to solving the problem that meant I couldn't sleep comfortably or walk any distance, much less take part in the sport I'd enjoyed as a student.
Quite by chance, I was offered the chance to try acupuncture therapy. After a short course of treatments, the improvement in my condition was incredible. For the first time in years, I was able to tie my shoe laces easily and walk around the supermarket without being in pain!
I was inspired to train in acupuncture myself, so I could share its profound benefits with other people. I initially trained for three years at the Five Element College in Leamington, and then continued my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with John and Angela Hicks, who now run the highly-regarded College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
