For more than 30 years, we have been a leading provider of van hire, lorry hire, crane hire & commercial hire to Liverpool, Merseyside & the surrounding region, meeting all the vehicle rental requirements of local businesses, households & the construction industry, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Tilly Hire was established by John Boyce in 1975, but John wasn't the first Boyce to make his name in the transport business. Until his retirement in 1987, John's father, Ron Boyce was Managing Director of the Family Transport Business, established in 1932 by Frank Burman (John's grandfather). The Family Transport Business began life as an 'ash & coke' moving company but later diversified into haulage & plant hire.

When Tilly Hire was set up, its small fleet consisted of a number of self-drive 3.5 tonne GVW tippers. In contrast, the Family Transport Business was notable for its impressive 16 & 24 tonne tippers.
