Back pain is a very common condition. Approximately 80% of adults will experience one or more episodes of low back pain during their lives. For some people, these episodes can be debilitating and repetitive in nature. Some types of back pain can give rise to nerve symptoms in the lower limb (sciatica) affecting anywhere from the buttock to the toes.
Neck pain and stiffness is a common problem. It can sometimes be associated with pain across the top of the shoulders, between the shoulder blades, headaches and sometimes nerve symptoms into the arm and hand. It can often result from static and repetitive activities at work, previous neck injuries and also postural strain from daily activities or even during sleep.
Headaches affect many of the general population and most people think they just have to put up with them. Headaches often originate from problems in the upper part of the neck (cervicogenic headaches) and also from tension in the neck and shoulders (tension headaches). Recurring headaches can have an adverse effect on our family life, social activities and ability to work.
