I created thePotentMix in 2011, after nearly 30 years in recruitment marketing and advertising in a career that began in the media before climbing the career ladder with two of the UK’s biggest recruitment marketing agencies — Austin Knight (now TMP) and then Riley (now Havas People), latterly as MD for Advertising and Media. Since 2011, I have worked across the full range of marketing activities — including social media, copywriting of every description (and especially web and blog content), media-buying, ad creation and design, tender preparation, Google Analytics, Google AdWords, employee referral, branding and marketing work as well as a host of research projects for many different clients. ​ In addition, I am arguably the UK’s leading expert on public notice advertising and my work with councils in Scotland, England and Wales has saved, literally, hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money.
