The Torbay Karate Club

Established in 1969, Torbay Karate Club in Paignton is one of the oldest Shotokan Karate clubs in the UK. Its founder and Chairman Bob Davies has run the club for over 40 years and, with Chief Instructor Ray Alsop and other resident & visiting black belts, it offers a wealth of experience and tuition from some of the highest graded instructors in the south of England. Torbay Karate Club belongs to the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) which is the largest Karate organisation in the UK and, because of its high standard of senior teachers, commands great respect in the martial arts world. The club is run on a not-for-profit basis, meaning the focus is on the martial art rather than commercial gain. The quality and passion for Karate in the club is self-evident.
