The Star Hotel

The Star Hotel
Great Yarmouth is widely known as the lively seaside resort it is today. However, its fine maritime heritage and thriving herring fishery generated the wealth that enabled past generations to build beautiful buildings, which are now splendid, historic additions to the town.

The Star Hotel, with its elegant and striking black and white Tudor-style frontage, is steeped in history and has been a landmark building welcoming guests to the resort and port of Great Yarmouth for more than three centuries.

A Grade II listed building, The Star Hotel is perfectly placed in the town's heritage quarter close to the busy renovated South Quay within walking distance of the bustling famous market in the town centre and the seafront with its two piers and sandy beaches that stretch for miles.

It even inspired Charles Dickens when he stayed in Great Yarmouth in 1848 and finds a place in David Copperfield as the inn where David and Steerforth stayed. And the panelling and ceiling to the Nelson Room in the original Star Tavern - removed and sold at auction when the original Star Tavern was to be demolished - was bought by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York where they may be seen today.
