The Relationship Centre

The Relationship Centre
Both Counselling and Psychotherapy are about becoming conscious of the nature of your relationship with yourself. As you become conscious of how you treat and how you feel about yourself you can begin to make sense of what is happening in your life and in your relationships. In Psychotherapy you tend to look deeper at what happened in your early life and so it tends to be a longer process then counselling.

We called our practice The Relationship Centre because we believe that relationships are at the core of what challenges us in life and also what nurtures us. The most important relationship being our relationship with self. Our approach is based on the potentiality model of human behaviour and its aims are to provide opportunities for individuals to deepen their sense of self and from that create mature relationships with others. We practice in a co-creational way which means that we value and capitalise on the creativity of both the client and the therapist.

There is a recognition of the immense power and intelligence of each person and how they have created ways to protect themselves in the face of others defences. We are primarily non-directive in our approach and seek to understand and provide psychological holding so that with safety, the same intelligence which created defences unconsciously will allow what lies hidden to come to consciousness- the true self.
