Longstanding Bakewell solicitors, Cockertons, is merging with Sheffield's Taylor&Emmet LLP in a move that will strengthen both brands.

Cockertons is to retain its own identity and client base and all 17 employees are to remain at its Bridge Street offices. Partner, Richard Kay, joins Taylor&Emmet's board, whilst Michael Cockerton will act as a consultant, following his retirement at the end of last year.

Taylor&Emmet LLP is currently recruiting a Private Client Solicitor to join the Wills and Probate department for a fixed term period, covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will undertake a range of work including advising on wills, lasting powers of attorney, court of protection, the administration of estates and advising the elderly.
