Tim had previously worked in a number of larger businesses holding positions such as chief accountant, financial accountant, cost accountant, management accountant. His experience includes working in head offices and factory accounting offices in business sectors such as food, heavy engineering, restaurants, quarrying and transport.

Making the transition to private practice in 1986, Tim's management accounting background and IT skills were found to be very useful to, and appreciated by the small businesses that he was now working with. Previously these skills could generally only be obtained from the very large and expensive national firms of accountants and as a consequence the small businesses tended to struggle on without that kind of support.

For several years Tim held the voluntary post of financial director and trustee of an active and prominent Frome based arts and crafts charity.
