We have been supplying and servicing electric bikes for eight years, and have seen a dramatic surge in technology and design in that time. At the beginning they were heavy, unattractive, with very limited range, thought of as an older person’s bike. When lithium batteries were introduced, manufacturers were able to produce lighter bikes with a much greater range, more thought was starting to go into the frame design which in turn started to attract a wider audience. The introduction of torque driven motors made the bikes more intuitive to ride, with more assistance when you need it The machines of today look no different to their non-electric cousins, the range makes much longer rides a reality, with batteries being integrated into frame design, as opposed to just added to a standard frame. Industry leading brands, Bosch, Shimano and Yamaha, amongst others now provide the motors for these cutting edge machines, with diagnostics software for updates and regular maintenance.
