The business which is now Straw and Pearce was founded in 1892 under the title of Slater & Co later to become Slater Brunton & Co. During the 1930's Walter William Straw and Guy Pearce joined the firm. The name Slater Brunton, Straw and Pearce was later shortened to Straw and Pearce. The name has been retained since although it is now many years since anyone by the name of Straw or Pearce has been involved.
Straw and Pearce has always provided a full range of legal services to commercial and private clients. For many years the emphasis was on non-contentious property, probate and commercial work. Over the past twenty years those services have been maintained and enhanced but the firm has also expanded its litigation services particularly in criminal and family law. Straw and Pearce is now widely recognised as a leader in both these fields.
The present partnership has extended both the range and volume of services provided.
