The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting was set up in 1956 to protect consumers against the hazards of unsafe and unsound electrical installations. A Complaints Procedure is operated where complaints about the technical or safety standards of work carried out by Approved Contractors may be investigated. If complaints are upheld the work is rectified under the Guarantee of Standards Scheme, at no cost to the consumer.
