My name’s Pete, and I’m a professional, trained and fully qualified music teacher here in Southampton. I offer private tuition for piano, clarinet and saxophone, and I can also help you with music theory, aural tests or revision for GCSE and A-Level music examinations.
Music has always been a part of my life. I’ve been playing piano since I was five years old, and clarinet and saxophone since my school days.
I worked my way through the ABRSM graded examinations on piano and took my Advanced Certificate before I left school. I went on to read Music and English at the University of Southampton, and followed this up with a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) specialising in music — a nationally recognised teaching qualification.
I pride myself on a patient, relaxed but enthusiastic approach to teaching: learning an instrument or about how music works should be fun, not a slog. And my methods are tried, tested and true: many of my pupils have gone on to study music at university, achieve success in examinations and build the confidence to perform, while others have discovered music-making to be a fun, relaxing and sociable hobby to enjoy.
