Externally the profile of the dome is uniquely eye-catching. Practically speaking being made of triangular elements makes them extremely strong with excellent water run-off and weight distribution throughout the whole of the frame reducing snow load issues increasing stability while eliminating the need for internal supporting walls. The lack of traditional box corners in the streamlined shape allows the wind to pass over and around the structure leaving it near impossible to blow over.

Internally a geodesic dome creates an open space like no other. Domed shapes enclose more space with fewer materials providing environmental benefits. Having in effect one wall that encloses the entire space without traditional corners or supporting walls results in better air circulation, less wall surface area for heat to escape from which in turn makes the insulating and heating of the building cheaper, easier and more efficient than a conventional structure.
