Before setting up the business in 2001 he spent 10 years training and working within the horticulture industry. He spent three years studying at Brinsbury College in West Sussex for a National Diploma in Landscape Studies. After completing the course he was offered a job on Herm Island in the Channel Islands as a gardener maintaining the gardens and grounds, which include many unusual sub-tropical plants. James’ next gardening position was at Polesden Lacy, a National Trust property in Surrey, maintaining the historic formal gardens. After a couple of years it was time for a new challenge, he moved to London where he worked for the famous garden designer Stephen Woodhams and was responsible for maintaining a portfolio of contemporary gardens in London for some very famous clientele.
