Rume was established ten years ago when husband and wife Richard and Libby Baker left the family furniture firm to strike out on their own. The philosophy behind the new company was to delight in the beautiful and the beautifully made and to pursue this by making lovely furniture of original design to the very highest standards here in England.

Taking the idea of classic English furniture as a starting point Richard stripped it back to its barest essentials to capture its inimitable timelessness. It is this enduring yet contemporary quality that is quintessentially Rume. The pieces are never mere copies, never pastiche, they are resolute in their contained elegance and confidence, furniture that is both familiar and startlingly original.

To complement this contradiction Libby started to gather together an unrestrained collection of accessories and cushions from just about everywhere.
