Paul started his professional education by obtaining a BTEC HNC in Land Administration in 1996. He then went on to complete the exams of the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers (ISVA) picking up two national awards on the way, for Statutory Valuations and Legal Procedures. He was elected as an Associate of the ISVA in 1998 and was subsequently elected as a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors following a merger of the ISVA and RICS in 2000.
Paul gained an honours degree in Building Control Engineering in 2004 and became a Chartered Building Engineer. During this time he also passed the examinations of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) leading to Membership of the IFE.
