I have been interested in many sorts of natural healing for most of my life. Several years ago a friend told me how some of her acquaintances had been treated with homeopathy with great success and recommended a book which would give me more information. This small book made fascinating reading and eventually I decided to study to become a homeopath. I trained for four years at the London School of Classical Homeopathy and I am a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths.
Homeopathy is both a science and an art. It was discovered by Samuel Hahnemann in 1791. He was a medical doctor who knew five languages and used to translate medical books. He was concerned about the extreme treatments of his time so he started experimenting with making gentler forms of medicines.
Homeopathy is a very safe form of healing and can be used on people of all ages, from the elderly to small babies. It is taken in small doses, either tablets or liquid and is completely non-addictive. If you are already taking conventional medicine, you can safely have homeopathic treatment alongside this, as it does not interfere.
It is a holistic treatment, which means it deals with the whole of the person. Your moods and emotional states as well as your physical symptoms are used by your homeopath to discover the best remedy for you. A remedy becomes homeopathic only when it matches the symptoms of the patient; therefore it is the act of prescribing that makes it homeopathy.
