Phoenix was established as a Community Interest Company which means that all income and fundraising earned must be used for the benefit of its services. Phoenix is an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and National Counselling Society.

The original organisation closed once its core funding was no-longer available due to government funding restrictions.
