Phil Dean Architect

Phil has worked for a number of leading architectural practices including Brock Carmichael Architects in Liverpool, where he worked on the conversion of the world famous Albert Dock to form the Merseyside Maritime Museum. He worked in Shetland for 14 years as an associate at Richard Gibson Architects, where he was responsible for completing many diverse projects, including several notable developments for the Hjaltland Housing Association and master-planning the re-development of North Ness Business Park in Lerwick. In 1999, Phil was appointed associate director at the Edinburgh based practice Gilberts and for 9 years led a team designing high quality commercial, residential and mixed use projects, mainly in Edinburgh and Fife. These include several in conservation areas notably a contemporary residential development in the Grange area of Edinburgh and a sensitive redevelopment of a difficult site in St. Andrews.Phil studied architecture and environmental design at the University of Nottingham and also, more recently, advanced sustainable design at the University of Edinburgh.
