Having been in the motor trade since leaving school and also attending North Devon college, Geoff was working locally at a garage in Combe Martin. When the opportunity came up to purchase a rundown fuel station in Berrynarbor, with his locally born wife Penny and so it began. In 1978 they started by changing the name from On A Hill Service Station to On A Hill Garage, to fully reflect their intentions to cater for all aspects of the motor trade.

In 1978 they started by changing the name from On A Hill Service Station to On A Hill Garage, to fully reflect their intentions to cater for all aspects of the motor trade. Initially working outside and then building a new workshop, with MOT facilities. Having outgrown the premises in Berrynarbor, in 1999 the decision was made to move the business to Lynton Cross. This was only about 4 miles away from Berrynarbor, but still very much On A Hill the logical name of On A Hill Garage continued.
