Ocean Academy

Jo Simms BA Hons, LISTD, CDE is the Principal of Ocean Academy of Dance. Jo Simms established Ocean Academy of Dance in 2004, providing a friendly yet professional environment for children and adults to enjoy learning dance. Classes are offered for children and adults from the age of 2 in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Street Dance in Helston.

During the school holiday we also offer dance workshops to local children giving them the opportunity to take part in a variety of styles of dance such as Street, Break dance, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Choreography. Free trial classes are offered on enquiry. All teachers are fully qualified, hold current DBS certificates, trained in First Aid and have Public Liability Insurance. We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Syllabus in Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap. Students have the opportunity to take examinations in these styles of dance. We have an excellent examination pass rate. Ocean Academy of Dance is involved in local community events and performances including charity danceathons. We stage our Musical Theatre performance for all students to be involved every two years. Our dance classes are great fun and good exercise. Both children and adults will benefit from increasing flexibility, strength, musicality, confidence and generally feeling good about themselves as they learn a new skill.
