MPI Brokers’ MD, Michael Pettifer, joined Howson F. Devitt & Sons (Devitts) in 1975. As a keen skier himself, he steered Douglas Cox Tyrie into the growing tour operator market. He pioneered innovations such as the collection of premiums from individual customers by credit card on the telephone.
Michael left Douglas Cox Tyrie in 1992 to broaden his experience elsewhere in travel insurance, working in offices such as Horace Holman Group Ltd.
In a classic case of history repeating itself, Douglas Cox Tyrie has re-emerged as a trading name of MPI Brokers, the award-winning specialist travel and ski insurance provider, founded by Michael in 2002. As part of the MPI Brokers group, the name of Douglas Cox Tyrie will remain synonymous with quality and innovation in ski insurance.
