Physiotherapy is the science of assessing and treating movement dysfunction through observation, movement analysis and specific testing of body structures. The physiotherapist can assess the problem, arrive at a diagnosis through clinical reasoning and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Most people seek physiotherapy for the treatment of pain, rehabilitation after an injury, surgery, or as a preventative measure. Only members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy who are registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) have undergone the required training and passed the necessary examinations to enable them to practice.
You do not need a referral from your Doctor unless you have health insurance cover which stipulates that a GP referral is needed. If your Doctor has given you a referral this should be brought with you as we would correspond with your Doctor regarding your treatment.
