Meridians are the pathways of qi (chi) and blood flow through the body. Qi flows continuously from one meridian to another. Any break in the flow is an indication of imbalance. If a person's vitality or energy is recognizably diminished it is an indication that the body's organs or tissues are functioning poorly, therefore the qi flow is inadequate.Qi is referred to as life force, or vital energy, and can be equated to electric energy. It is imperative for the existence of life. It is circulated through the body by meridians. The entire body relies on Qi for function. Health is dependent on the this free flowing energy throughout the body. Qi is the refined and nutritious substances flowing in the body, invisible but existent, such as the essential substance from water and the inhaled clear Qi and exhaled waste Qi.
