W.C Maunders Ltd. is still a family run independent company. The father of the current owners, a carpenter by trade, started the business as a building company in the mid 1940s. The company gradually moved towards retail and after trading successfully for a number of years established itself as a limited company in 1952 becoming Cheddars' first builders merchants and DIY supplies.
