Massage Hands

Massage Hands is the massage practice run by Stephen Oakley (BSc Hons, NAMMT), a qualified and experienced therapist offering expert massage and sports injury advice. You can choose to have your consultation and treatment in the comfort of your own home or you can visit our dedicated clinic.

Here I will spend significant time to find out as much relevant information ranging from previous injuries to hobbies and work patterns. This can be crucial in determining the cause of the problem. The aim here is to take a general look at the area in question to try and compare the affected and unaffected sides of the body. This may require the patient removing their outer clothes for a brief period of time in order to build up a complete picture.

Palpation, or feeling the affected area, aims to check for any muscle imbalance and the integrity of the surrounding joints and muscles. If not immediately clear where a problem may be originating from, some moves will be performed in order to try and pinpoint to exact area of concern. Once the problem has been identified, and if the problem can be aided and treated by massage and mobilisations, then massage is the next step.
