After 4 years of study in Northampton I was offered one of 12 places at the Royal College of Art in Kensington, London. Specialising in Womenswear. While studying I did design work for a number of design houses and labels, including Karl Lagerfeld, Nicol Farhi and high street names like Marks & Spencers.
When I graduated in 1996 I was offered a job as design assistant to Gianni Versace in Milan. This was a great opportunity for me but I soon tired of drawing all day. I missed the feel of fabric and the drafting of a pattern and transferring it into a 3D garment.
