It is important to always choose a qualified massage therapist because, in rare cases, massage therapy delivered by an unqualified person can actually do more harm than good. In the UK, the majority of complementary and alternative therapists are not regulated by the government, so you should only choose therapists who are members of reputable, independent or voluntary regulatory bodies which have clear standards for qualification.
