Holt & Longworth has been a leading provider of high quality legal services since our founding in 1913. We are proud of that heritage, but also embrace twenty-first century methods and approaches. Much of our work derives from previous satisfied clients, their family and friends, together with professional referrals. The Firm was founded by Mr G R Holt working from part of the present premises in Rawtenstall.

Mr B Longworth became a partner after the Second World War and the firm became known as Holt & Longworth from the early 1950s. On the death of Mr G R Holt his son Mr J R T Holt became a partner and remained so until his transfer to the Bar in 1972/3 when Mr I J Pickup joined the partnership. Mr P T Wilkinson became an additional partner in 1985 followed by Mrs C M Pilkington in 1992 on the appointment of Mr I J Pickup as a District Judge.
