HLSE Ltd and Hortensial Landscaping are owned and managed by Matthew Fitzgerald. Matthew has skills and knowledge from more than 18 years of Landscape construction and project management, both Internationally and in the UK.

Matthew discovered his talent for landscaping gardens while living on the East Coast of the U.S.A. In four years, he had become an experienced Landscape Foreman working on large scale domestic landscape projects, developing skills in all areas with a particular focus on natural stone walling, terrace installation, site surveys and design. Returning home to England in 1996, he and his young family moved to Cumbria where Matthew completed his HND in Landscape Design and Amenity Management with Distinction at Newton Rigg Horticultural College.

After initial success with a Silver Medal at Holker Hall, Matthew entered a Cumbrian garden design into the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show 1998 as part of a team of four.
