Prior to the formation of Heysham Golf Club in 1910, a joint tenure was made into golf when "The Morecambe and Heysham Golf Club" was formed at a meeting on the 23rd May 1892 at The Midland Hotel in Morecambe. The land was rented at a fee of £43 per year and comprised part of Banks House Farm and the farm kitchen was used as the "Clubhouse". George Lowe, the professional at Lytham and St. Annes Golf Club, was the architect and the original 9 hole course was later extended to 12 holes.
