April McKinney has been a staff nurse, and now complementary therapist at Strathcarron Hospice in Denny for the past 20 years caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses. An interest in complementary therapies led to a Higher National Unit in aromatherapy 16 years ago, followed by an ever-increasing range of beauty therapy qualifications and treatments for women of all ages.
April McKinney has been a staff nurse, and now complementary therapist at Strathcarron Hospice in Denny for the past 20 years caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses. An interest in complementary therapies led to a Higher National Unit in aromatherapy 16 years ago, followed by an ever-increasing range of beauty therapy qualifications and treatments for women of all ages. In the past 5 years, April has studied for a Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care (level 9), Iris Cancer Partnership Level 1 course (Massage for People living with Cancer), Aromatherapy in Palliative Care with Rhiannon Harris, and The Hearts Process Workshop and Managing Anxiety and Panic both with Ann Carter.
April is also a qualified instructor in the Massage In Schools programme and is keen to introduce this to primary schools in the surrounding area who are interested in promoting health and wellbeing to their pupils.
