Goatman & Batham Opticians

We are an independent Optometrists and Contact Lens Practitioners based in Bristol. Established in 1935, we have been providing excellent eye care to locals for over 75 years. The practice began under the name of John Goatman Ltd and was then passed on to his two sons, Peter and Michael. During this time, Peter served as the optometrist while Michael looked after the dispensaries. In 2002, the practice was sold to Gordon Batham, Michael Killpartrick and Alan Smith.

Alan and Michael also own Ellis & Killpartrick Opticians with branches in Bath and Cheltenham, where Gordon had practised for several years. In April 2013, Alan Smith retired and Gordon Batham took over full ownership of Goatman & Batham opticians with his wife Julia. The practice maintains a close working relationship with Ellis and Killpartrick in staff training and IT as well as functioning as a small buying group.
