GKI is a non-profit making organisation that is dedicated to the promotion and teaching of classical and traditional Goju Ryu Karate Do based on the ideas of Chjun Miyagi, the founder of Goju Ryu. GKI conducts regular lectures, seminars and special courses for all students, as well as a continuous training programme for instructors. Instructors have to conform to the highest standards, as set out by the organisation and are assesed on an outgoing basis.
We practise traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu, which focuses on effective close-quarters fighting. We enjoy tournaments, but believe that the true heart of karate is self defence. Our instructors include Police Officers who have used their skills on the streets many times. We run separate classes for children, so we can focus the training on their specific needs.
With their Karate they also learn self discipline, confidence, self respect and respect for others. Come and join us at our new Beginners training classes, where the class will be geared toward teaching the basic skills of Karate in a fun and relaxed environment.
