Ellie comes from a family of artists. Her father Miles Robinson is a sculptor, his most recognised work being the "Giles" statue in Ipswich town centre. After initially beginning her career in the jewellery industry, she discovered her great passion for photography after being asked to assist a leading Suffolk wedding photographer. Several years later, after developing her own style under expert guidance, then meeting fellow photographer Rob, East Coast Photography was formed.

After initially beginning her career in the jewellery industry, she discovered her great passion for photography after being asked to assist a leading Suffolk wedding photographer. Several years later, after developing her own style under expert guidance, then meeting fellow photographer Rob, East Coast Photography was formed. Rob had a strong design background, having worked as a silk-screen printer for twenty years, creating and manufacturing advertising materials for large local company campaigns.
He always loved photography and was especially talented at reportage images, capturing people in natural situations with long lenses. Tragically in late 2011, Rob passed away after being involved in a motorcycle accident.
