Back in the 90s I, Carol Sullivan, studied law with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and enjoyed the areas of Criminal and Matrimonial law far more than I did Conveyancing or Land Law. I Qualified in 1996 then worked for Crown Prosecution Service for a few years and what an eye opener that was.
In 2000 my husband and I separated and he commenced divorce proceedings. I did not agree with the things stated but I wanted to get divorced as it was I who left him. I tried to talk with him about splitting our finances but he was not interested in anything I had to say. He decided to use solicitors and what a mistake that was, for him anyway. I gained. He suggested a ridiculous settlement to start with but I ended up offsetting the house for a pittance as long as I did not touch his pension or company shares. However it cost us both about £6000 each.
