NHS Dentistry offers a basic level of treatment to maintain oral health. It does not reflect the ever increasing cost of equipment and materials, and does not take into account new techniques and advances. As a result this restricts the types of fillings, crowns, dentures, etc, and restricts the dentist's time and techniques. Cosmetic treatment is not available, however you can opt to have private treatment alongside NHS treatment i.e. you can pay for a private white filling in your back teeth.
