With my Midwestern American accent, it often comes as a surprise to discover that I grew up in South Yorkshire and NE Derbyshire. My accent comes from over two decades living in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and briefly in Chicago. Before leaving the USA, I spent the entire summer in Missoula, Montana completing an intensive photography training course at Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP is co-owned by Neil Chaput de Saintonge, himself a student and assistant to Ansel Adams).

RMSP made me realise how light makes the photograph. great training in studio lighting means i'm no longer restricted to calling myself a "natural light photographer". i completed a bsc in it/graphics & multimedia (1st, at capella university), focusing on adobe's creative suite tools (photoshop, illustrator, flash). funnily enough, i also left with 13 kilts! it seems only appropriate that i now call scotland my home.

After being overseas for so many years, when I returned to the UK I noticed something missing. As a kid, it seemed like most of us had family photographs proudly on display. Even though most of us carry a camera nowadays (usually in our phone), we usually keep and share only candid snapshots and the robotic posed school portraits. What will todays kids have to show and cherish when they've grown up and Facebook is passé? Have you lost images taken only a decade ago?

I offer my photography services in portraits, personal branding headshots (actor or business), product and food photography. I'm also available for shooting editorial and commercial photography projects.
