Craftymermaids

Craftymermaids
Always green, usually in banded tones varying from very dark green to a mellow green. Most malachite comes from Zaire, Chile and Australia. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used malachite for jewelry and ground it to use as eye shadow. It is used in amulets to protect against the evil eye. In the Middle Ages it was used to protect children from witches and other dangers.

Weve been trading for over two years from our shop at 79 Meadowside. Our online shop has being going from strength to strength and its constantly developing so theres always something new to see. On April 1st this year we opened our stand in the Overgate placing Craftymermaids on the ground floor of this premium mallspace. Craftymermaids started as a mobile stall which we would take to Highland games and galas as well as festivals and church hall events. We've traded in howling gales and sold silver in the pouring rain to soaked but happy campers!

We've been stuck in the mud, frozen to the bone, tired out and grubby but we enjoyed every minute of it. When the lease on our present shop became available we jumped at the chance of having a retail outlet and workshop. Thereby allowing us to make much more jewellery ourselves, as well as developing a more solid foundation and a less nomadic lifestyle!
